Caps sign beanie cap Ward, Hamrlik to multi-year deals

Washington, DC (Sports Network) - The Washington Capitals signed right wing
Joel Ward to a four-year deal Friday and inked defenseman Roman Hamrlik to a
two-year contract. Ward's deal is worth a reported $12 million, while Hamrlik's is said to be for
$7 million.

Ward, who spent the past three seasons with the Nashville Predators, has 40
goals and 59 assists in 241 career NHL games.

The 30-year-old shined in the playoffs this past season, leading Nashville
with seven goals and six assists in just 12 games.

Hamrlik, 37, has played 18 seasons with five teams, including the past four
years with the Montreal Canadians. He posted five goals beanie cap and 34 points with a
plus-six rating for the Canadians last season.

The Capitals didn't release financial details of either contract, but TSN of
Canada reported terms of the deals.
